Welcome to Our Office

Accidents are a part of life, and although there is a lot we can do to minimize our exposure to them they are inherently hard to predict and prepare for. But thanks to our Grand Rapids, MI, dentist, Dr. Daniel Grode, we can expect to recover from a variety of dental injuries. We'll explore some of the most common below and the treatments that can make them better, but to learn more please contact the office of Beckwith Family Dental Care.

Chipped and Cracked Teeth

Chipped teeth can be treated in a number of ways by our dentist, and even if the injury is not painful it should still be examined. There could be deep damage that could turn painful in time, and the chipped part of the tooth can cut our cheeks and gums if not treated. Cosmetic bonding can repair minor cracks often on the same day. Another treatment possibility is a dental veneer, or a crown if the damage is more severe.

Damaged Dental Restoration

Just as with a chipped tooth, if a dental restoration is loose or lost, it should be treated promptly. This includes fillings, veneers, and crowns, among others. As we wait for treatment it's recommended that we rinse our mouth with a saltwater solution, but please follow the advice given upon calling the office.

Toothache

Tooth pain can result from untreated injuries or decay, or any circumstance that causes damage and inflammation, and infection of the soft tissue inside of the tooth. A root canal can not only alleviate discomfort, but it can also help us to preserve our teeth. In certain circumstances, as is the case with wisdom teeth and with teeth that are too damaged even for a crown, the tooth must be extracted to relieve pain. But our dentist can help us restore our missing tooth with either a bridge or a dental implant.

Knocked-Out Tooth

If one of our teeth has been knocked out there is a possibility that it can be reattached if we act quickly. The important things to remember are to recover the tooth and to keep it from drying by transporting it in a container with milk, or even our own saliva. If there's no container available we can carefully carry it between our gums and cheeks into the dentist's office.
